Account Security

One Time Passwords

  • One Time Passwords are a mandatory security feature that we use. Upon each ‘Sign In’ event, you will be requested for an OTP, sent to the email address registered with your BitPolo account.
  • The OTP is also required for setting up additional security features like the anti-spoofing code, whitelisting withdrawal addresses, and enabling 2FA.
  • OTP will remain the method of authentication for 2FA disabled users.

Setting up 2FA

  • We recommend that you use Google Two-Factor Authentication to protect and add an extra layer of security to your account. When you sign in to your account, you can see your account’s ‘Dashboard’ and ‘Security Details’ option.
  • Select the ‘Security Details’ panel. Here, you can set up a two-factor authentication mechanism with Google 2FA.
  • Click the ‘Enable’ button next to the Google Authentication option. A setup prompt will show you the secret key along with a QR code.
  • Download the Google authentication app from the Play Store or the App Store. Add your BitPolo account to the app either by entering the secret key or by scanning the QR code.
  • Then, click ‘next’ and proceed to the next step in the setup prompt. When prompted, enter your password and the Google Authentication Code shown on the mobile app. Finally, click the ‘Activate’ button.
  • Your account is now secure with two-factor authentication. Do NOT delete the authenticator app or you may lose access to your account.

  • Click ‘Change Password’. Enter the OTP or 2FA code, according to your security set up. Once the code is validated, your password will be reset.

Fees

How is the trading fee calculated?

  • The trading fee is calculated for a 30 day rolling period in BTC. 0.2% of your total trades are levied as a fee for our service, whether your the maker or the taker in the market.

What is a Maker Fee?

  • Makers contribute liquidity to our order book. Placing an order greater than the highest ask or the lowest bid you’ll incur the ‘Maker Fee’. Makers define the course of the market.

What is a Taker Fee?

  • Takers remove liquidity from our order book. Placing an order that matches the market price of an asset, you’ll incur the ‘Taker Fee’. Unlike makers, takers do not play an active role in shaping the market.
